Take a Break...and Zentangle

When I am writing my fingertips off, I do weird things.

I will "role play" a movement, to see how my rolls roll, so I can describe on paper how my character rolls.

I drink a lot of water/tea so I have to void a lot, so I can avoid getting stuck permanently to the couch in front of my laptop.

And sometimes I take a break from writing and Zentangle. What in the he** is Zentangle, you ask?  Google it. But be prepared. If you're a doodler, you'll become addicted...quickly.

This a piece I did for my son.

This is another view of the same piece. (My son's a musician.) This one looks much lighter---
blame the photographer (me).

How about you?  What do you do when you take a break from doing report cards writing? (Not that I need any more tools in my "task avoidance" toolbelt...Seriously.)

  1. That zentangle art of yours is zen perfect. I sneak off to the kitchen to grab a few more dark chocolate covered pretzel crisps :)

  2. You are so talented! Love the Zentangle!

My breaks from writing usually involve picking up carpool or emptying the dishwasher.

    1. Donna--

I imagine--knowing you--that you probably do some prewriting in your head while you tooling around with kids or emptying the dishwasher. Right?

    1. Mama Zen--Well, as brief as some of your poems are, does that mean you only need a small closet to pace in? ;)

  4. That is totally cool. Oh, what a Zentangle you weave when first you practice to relieve.

    1. Val--You are TOO much the punster...Is there anything you refuse to get snarky/SA/SD about? (Curious minds want to know...)

    2. Well...usually, if I can't say anything snarky, I don't say anything at all. I don't consciously TRY to appear disrespectful. I suppose that when I take a break from writing, I should be putting myself in timeout.

  5. I have been watching all the episodes of the old ABC show "Once & Again" that I can lay my hands on. I am very good at doing zilch. I really only have two speeds; full speed ahead, and stopped.

    1. Shay--

"Once and Again" is a show I don't even remember. Refresh my swiss-cheese-for-memory, please.

    2. Sela Ward played a divorced mom who meets divorced architect Rick. They find out whether love really is sweeter the second time around. The show was wonderfully written, acted and directed. I absolutely loved it and have recently rediscovered it, though the third season is not available on dvd! Grr.

    3. I don't think Sela Ward ever did anything bad. She was in at least one cheesy series, but she herself did a wonderful job in it.

Thanks. I don't remember ever hearing about it, and I know I never saw an episode.

  6. Wow, Sioux! You are multi-talented! I think your drawings are way more than just "doodles"! I have plenty of time wasting activities, but one of my favorites is to nap. I just really do not have a lot of energy....never have. You should start entering art contests! Really!
