Shoving Ahead

        With every  piece,
        write, write, write.
        There'll be some crap,
        write, write, write.
And a time to revise... sometime later.
A time to edit, a time to reread.
A time to delete, a time to scrap.
A time to rewrite, a time to share.
A time to refuse to share... I swear it is pure poop. (My apologies to Pete Seeger, The Byrds and Peter, Paul and Mary.)

It took me until this evening, but I did manage to get 3,000 more words shoved out. I'm getting over some bumpy plot parts, and perhaps I can set another goal this week or this next weekend, and achieve it or at least part of it.

        We'll see.

What do you plan on accomplishing this week?

I'm leaving you with a George Ezra video. The video itself is silly (I think) but I love his voice. He's so young but sounds like a middle-aged man (again, that's my opinion).

  1. A time to kill, a time to embrace; a time to eee eeee erase. LOL.

I accomplished LOTS yesterday and this morning. Cleaned out my cupboards and threw away five year old ointments and odd batteries and all that sort of stuff. And a ton of old cosmetics. These days, if i smear on some lipstick, I consider myself glam. Full disclosure: I am not normally nearly so productive, but i got in the mood to do this stuff and struck while the iron was hot.

    1. Crud! If only you had been around when I was channeling Pete Seeger (along with God, I guess?)

Me, too (as far as the glam).

When will MY iron get hot, Shay?

  2. Good for you! Moving along! Wish I could say the same. I hope to just survive the week, the ordinariness and such. Real goal is to see if I can minimize what I put in my mouth! I can only battle one front at a time it seems and food is the enemy here.

    1. Claudia--You're doing lots of traveling these days. I'd say that means you're priming the pump when it comes to writing.

  3. Wow! You were busier than a high school sophomore the night before the term paper is due!

Best of luck with your endeavor. I plan on making it through the week by getting 10 blog posts out in a timely manner. Three late evenings at school this week, so I might have to time shift and work ahead, However...it's kind of too late to do that for Monday, and with Tuesday being a late day, it kind of defeats the purpose to do extra...

    1. Val--Hey! What's the matter with waiting until the night before the deadline to do something? ;)

  4. Small goals add up to big accomplishments. Good for you, Sioux. Right now I'm working on just trying to get back into a productive routine. Whatever made me think retirement would bring more time to write?

    1. Pat--I imagine you're like most retirees I know--they're busier now than they were when they were still working...

  5. Yeah, you accomplished quite a lot, in my book. (See what I did there? "in my book" and you're rewriting your book? I think this week, I shall make a funny every day. Or at least make something that *I* think is funny.) :-)

    1. Cathy--Making a funny every day might bring some well-needed smiles to people. And if they don't think your joke is funny, just laugh even louder and longer... It'll make them wonder about you. ;)

  6. 3,000 is nothing to sneeze at, m'dear. You've been a busy bee! And you're correct. He does sound a lot older than he looks.

  7. You are no slacker ---3,000 words is a lot! Wish I had your stamina.
I've been doing some editing on a novel I hope to finish one day.
I like George Ezra's voice too ever since I heard him sing the song about Budapest.
In this video maybe he welcomed the bad karma after being a liter bug?

    1. Donna--His "Budapest" is my favorite of his songs, so far.

That COULD be the reason for all the bad karma.

One day? How about setting a goal? It seems that many years ago, you kind of prodded me into doing something... Could I return the favor?
