Every Dog Has His Day

Okay, this isn't the dog I meant to write about, but Karmer (from Istanbul, Turkey) has a wonderful day every day. Well, he will have better days once he finds a forever home, but even now, while he's still waiting for a permanent source of love, he's enjoying life. (Love a Golden Rescue thinks he's a Lab/Lab mix.)

He walks like a dream... way better than our dog.

No, this is the dog I planned on writing about today. Radar, who's almost 3, passed his obedience class last night. My husband and I both consider it a March Miracle. Radar followed all of the commands he was given in a satisfactory manner. Either that, or the instructors were tired of seeing his happy-butt, and they gave him the certificate so he'd leave.

When our pup first started this six-week class, the instructors said, "He's such a happy boy." We didn't have to read between the lines. We knew what they really meant. They meant, 'Your dog is one wild and crazy dog.'

So, if you start something and assume you're going to fail, you just might end being pleasantly surprised.

  1. Yeah, Karmer looks Labby to me. And quite happy. With really white teeth.

Aw. Radar seems so SWEET. Or...maybe...a little guilty about something. You must be so proud that he graduated. Or was at least socially-promoted.

    1. Val--Yeah, as a teacher, you know the type. Radar's the kid who's 17 and finally graduates into 8th grade... because he can now drive himself to school and has a full beard. (Karmer DOES have brilliant white teeth, and will make someone a great dog...)

  2. Sioux, my grand dog died yesterday from cancer. Loved that dog and ache for my son too. We wanted a Storm of our own and Biscuit looked like her enough to fill the bill. She is NOT Storm and I knew that, but.... Storm was congenial, quiet dog and Biscuit is all over the place. She is smart but smart is a challenge!!! Wild yes at times. Radar is a beauty and wild/crazy is not all bad for sure!

    1. Claudia--I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a dog leaves a canyon of ache in our heart.

I have a feeling Biscuit and Radar would have fun together. Crazy fun, but fun.

  4. Social promotion? I think not. He passed with flying colors. he is a cutie. Hope Karmer finds a happy home.

    1. Linda--Hearing stories of what a gifted preschool teacher you were, how you were able to work with any child that came into your classroom, I am sure you would be able to whip Radar into shape... and that also makes me aware of how rose-colored your glasses are.

Flying colors? I don't think so...
