Sickness, Sickness Everywhere

Pardon my not posting. I've had the flu/a horrendous cold. Chills. Horrible, nonstop coughing. Exhaustion. I felt bad enough that I went to Urgent Care last night, after dealing with this for 2 1/2 weeks, and I'm thrilled to be on some steroids and some cough suppressant pills. Leave it to to me to wait until I was starting to feel a bit better before seeking medical attention.

Have I missed a day of work? Nope.

Have I missed working two solid days volunteering at Half Price Books for my dog rescue group? Again, no.

What has slid aside, neglected, is my blog.

I promise I will post on Friday with two back-of-the-book blurbs (because I love the one from last week) along with this week's.

And Val, I'm sorry. You've probably given up on me. Unfortunately, I am still alive, and unfortunately, you only have a few days to prepare a blog and hilarious reviews.

Here is the book cover for this week's blurb. I know it might lack imagination, but amidst the coughing and the snorting, it's the best I could do.

  1. Oh no! I hope you feel better soon! Glad you finally got some medical attention!

  2. Don't you tell the kids to stay home when they are sick? You should have been in bed being waited on. Okay you'd probably be waiting in bed for someone for a long time, but still. Schools are closing because of the crud. I sure hope you get some rest and feel better soon.

    1. Linda--Yeah, you know how much work teachers have to do just to stay home. And stay home for a couple of weeks? Forget about it.

  3. You know those things called "sick days?" Some people actually use them to stay home and recover if they are sick! I KNOW! Such a foreign concept. My best ol' ex-teaching buddy Mabel looked at it this way:

"When you retire, people aren't going to say, 'That Mrs. Val! She was ALWAYS here to help the kids. She even came in when she was sick!' No. They're going to say, 'Who's Mrs. Val?'"

I hope I didn't catch something by stopping to leave a comment. I have CasinoPalooza 3 on the horizon. But I DO hope you're feeling better. So you can take a sick day (not that you would!) and go do something fun.

    1. Val--I couldn't take two weeks off--and that's how long it's lasted, so far--and you KNOW it's more work to stay home than it is to go in sick...

  4. I had to get on my sister’s blog to be sure she was still alive. It’s pretty bad if she goes to urgent care, she won’t take an aspirin for a bad headache.

And stay home and quit spreading germs around!

  5. Always remember that your blog is a self-imposed deadline, and though your regular readers will surely miss you if you're unable to post, the Blog Police will not---contrary to what we tell ourselves---show up at the door. Self care first, my friend! So happy to hear you're on the mend. Feel better!

    1. Lisa--Well, I actually think my regular reader (not readers) is relieved when I don't post. And Blog Police? I hadn't even thought of them. Now you have me worried about something new. ;)

  6. Gosh, I'm so sorry you're sick. There's too much going on this time of year to feel bad, so get well soon. You need to be healthy to enjoy your school break!
