His Muscle's Mightier Than Mine

In this past Sunday's Parade magazine, there was a brief piece on Stephen Hawking.

To write a book, to speak to people, to communicate, he twitches one muscle in his right cheek; "the motion sends an infrared beam to a computer that translates his signals into words."

We might complain about how hard it is to write, but do our struggles even come close to Hawking's?   He was told he would die in his twenties but here he is, at 68, still dazzling us.

Hawking is said to be the most brilliant physicist around...

Who is the most brilliant person in the world (from your perspective) and why?  It might be a writer, a family member...What is it about this person that makes them shine so brightly?

  1. This was the one Sunday I did not get a newspaper. I always enjoy the Parade's human interest stories. It is amazing what people can do when the desire is there. Thanks for sharing.
Right now, you Sioux, are shining brightly for me. I am inspired by your reawakening of your passion for writing. Keep it up.

  2. Barbara---Without sounding like a meeting of the Mutual Admiration Society, I am inspired by writers like YOU...writers who write every day, writers who submit their work regularly, writers who keep their eyes opened for possible tidbits to write about...

(And thanks again for baiting the hook about the Saturday Writers group when we were in Portland; I'm really grateful I nibbled...)

  3. Wow! That's a toughie. I'd have to think long and hard to come up with a really good and proper answer to that.....I guess for one thing the word Brilliant can mean different things to different people...and there are many ways of being Brilliant! I'll have to come back someday on this question..... :D
