Yesterday afternoon I began reading the book The Hunger Games. Yes, I know. I am the last human being left on the planet who has not read the book and no, I haven't seen the movie yet either.
To say it is a page-turner is a gross understatement.
As a writer, I am in awe of the story conception. It's so unique, my mouth gapes open at just how imaginative Suzanne Collins is.
I'm almost finished with it. And although I am usually sad when a book I enjoy is over, in this case, I'm not.
Because the 2nd and 3rd books are waiting in the wings for me...
You're NOT the last. Cos I have neither read the book nor seen the movie.
ReplyDeleteWell, now you're the only one, Fireblossom, because I finished the book this afternoon. Try it. You might like it.
ReplyDeleteI may be the next-to-last person to read The Hunger Games. I pre-ordered my hardback after reading a review in Entertainment Weekly. It arrived, I was busy, and I mentioned it to my son, Genius. He read it and loved it. He passed it on to his younger brother. Then he started loaning it out to kids at school. I suggested to the librarian, who had never heard of it, that she might want to get it for the school library.
ReplyDeleteMy kids clamored for more. They were on the edge of their seats waiting for each subsequent installment. We've all seen the movie. And now that I want to actually read the book, it's gone. We have the two sequels, but not The Hunger Games. So three weeks ago, I bought myself the paperback at Walmart.
I'm going to get around to reading it real soon. It's on my lamp table, right next to my recliner.
Sioux...as it turns out, you are not, in fact, the last person on earth to read it. That title might go to me! My oldest son read it in 6th grade, and I still have yet to read it! It's sitting in my house right now, just begging me to pick it up, and yet, I still haven't. But I will...I promise I will - very soon! Maybe tonight, in fact!
ReplyDeleteWord from Connor is that the next two books are "nowhere near as good" as the first....
Add me to that list of not having read it yet, either! Or seen the movie...but here's a new one...I don't plan on it, either.
ReplyDeleteI've read the book but not seen the movie. And I'm probably the only person on the planet who read the first book and opted out of the second and third. I made the mistake of reading reviews on Amazon.
ReplyDeleteI read the book so long ago (surprise) that I thought there was something familiar about the movie name. LOL. But my daughter just gave me the 2nd book - apparently I gave her my copy of the Hunger Games - and she told me when I gave it to her that she was thinking, oh boy, what is mom giving me now and stuck it somewhere. Then when all the hype was going on, she remembered and picked it up and read it in a few days - just recently.
ReplyDeleteI read the books last year and yes, I gobbled those down almost as fast as I eat chocolate. I haven't seen the movie either and don't plan on it. Somehow the movies are never as good as the books.
