Help! Please!

Two pleas for assistance...  I know I have a very slow learning curve.  I just realized yesterday, after looking at someone's blog and noting that they gave credit for the flickr photo they used, that I had been merrily adding images on my blog, failing each time to give credit to the artist. (I was proud of that accomplishment:  being able to browse for and then place the photo in my blog without a weirdly-placed white "frame."  I can't get rid of the frame yet, but at least it's centered around the picture now.)

Here's where I need the help. 1) I love the comments. It's proof that someone's actually reading the drivel I write.  But I cannot figure out how to program a little note like "Thanks for your comment," by the place where comments are posted.  I've yahoo-ed it, to no avail. Could anyone tell me in simple, easy-to-understand steps?

2)  Check out Donna's blog  She is asking for movies about writing (which I would like to learn about as well. ) I know the movie Once (might be a stretch) and Stranger Than Fiction and Sideways (which I know is a stretch, and might be objectional to some).  But what others are there?

  1. I'm reading! :o) Off the top of my head I can't think of any movies and I have little clue about setting anything up anywhere on blogsites (#1 I still call them blogsites, and #2 I'm hoping after I've typed this very comment I can figure out how to actually post it!). As far as acknowledging the Flickr photos... I'd start by reading their agreements for use of photos on the site. Being a photographer myself I was always irritated when someone "stole" my copyrighted image, but on one hand it was "advertising" and on the other handit was quite flattering... neither of which have much to do with Flickr. heee... anyway, if they are considered "stock" photos I'm not sure you are obligated to name the source. My take is sort of like: if you don't want someone using your photos then you shouldn't put them on the internet, but I'm sure there are actual rules about it somewhere on the site.

  2. Jennifer---
I had not thought of reading any legalese on Flickr's site...That's a great idea. I think even if it is not "required" I am going to give them credit (whatever name/nickname they photograph under). Please do not even THINK of trying to oust me from my spot as Queen Nimrod of Technology...You could earn a spot as Princess, but I am the queen...

  3. There is a documentary called Shaped by Writing which was a study done at Harvard. Dry but excellent discussion. I use excerpts. I'm also planning to pull excerpts from the TV series West Wing. There is much discussion about word choice and audience throughout the show. One discussion is about a possible comma, or a smudge, in the Constitution that would change the meaning of the language. Of course, Dead Poet's Society offers many excerpts.
