A Magpie Tale

Thanks to Magpie Tales, there is a photo or drawing every Tuesday to prod you into writing.  Check out the site for many, many interesting takes.

      Here is mine:

          Dark song,
          with low, disconnected chords
played out with a halting limp.

          A dirge.
          A hymn to play
          to honor the dead.

          The past is gone,
and life as we know it
          will never return...

  4. Oh dear! Oh dear! I'm sure that can't be right? But it's true with every beat of the clock. It will never be the same....

  5. This is the first of your poetry I've read, and it was worth the wait. Hauntingly beautiful.

  6. A dirge, yes. I thought of the people of Toowoomba, in Australia, unprepared for the flood that swept their lives away this week. Some dead, many missing, to add to the growing disaster in Queensland.

  7. Like Kay, I thought of all the people affected by the floods in Queensland, Australia. Of all those lost. Life changes, never to be the same.

  9. Sioux, you really are a poet. I loved this piece. I am always fascinated with your photographs. Yes, snow days are treats for teachers, along as they don't exceed the allowable number.

  15. Hi Sioux
This is a lovely poem, full of slow sadness.

Thanks for coming over to my blog too. It's the first time I've 'met' you and after reading your profile and studying your blog I think we have quite a bit in common. Hope to see lots more of you.

  17. Very expressive. The ellipsis at the end is intriguing. Life does go on, if not as we knew it before.

  20. The only real constants in the universe are motion and change. I think you've put both together here.
