Life...

       Life happens.

This past week I was buried under report card preparation, along with the normal work and life stuff. But I had two highlights to look forward to. On Tuesday, I took part in a panel discussion about Chicken Soup stories, and it was a marvelous evening. Great audience. Great writers. Great conversation. On Saturday, my granddaughter had a basketball game (at the crack of chicken. The game began at 8:00, and we live an hour away from where it was. There should be a law against starting a game before 10.)

The discussion on Tuesday was the sort of thing that jumpstarts my writing. The next day, I started a new submission and am almost finished with the first draft.

My granddaughter's team lost (12-10) but she played her best... which is all we want from her.

Since I'm working on a couple of big professional (teacher) projects right now, I'm going to post on Tuesdays and Fridays only. Perhaps that will give me time to work on some of my bigger writing pieces.

Previously, I posted on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. However, that's too much. I have blogging friends who post every day. I have writing friends who write a mind-blowing poem every. Single. Day. I even have a writing friend who has two blogs and posts every day on both blogs. To those writers, I bow down...

I'll see you Friday. And if you haven't played along with the Back-of-the-Book Blurb Friday gang, stop in on Friday... and have some fun.

  1. I don't know how a lot of people do achieve what they do and that includes you! I, and others, say we don't know how we managed to hold a job at one time...we feel busy and behind now without one! You are doing wise thing here, better to adjust than collapse yourself or a project. Two days will be fine!

    1. Claudia--I've heard that---that retirees are busier than they were when they were working. Strange, huh?

  2. Oh, I know what you mean, Sioux! This year has just been--well, at first I was like, "Dang, I'm lucky to get a post in a week." And then I was like, "Dang. Go you, for getting that post in this week!"

It's all how you look at it. :-)

    1. Cathy--I like that outlook. As the song goes, "Accentuate the positive... eliminate the negative." It IS all on how you look at it.

  3. Are your professional projects something along the lines of an S O L ...wait a minute! That's just what we insiders call them. I mean, like an S L O, or a U of I? Mine happen to be sitting on my desk right now, having been done since last October.

That's how I have time for repetitive man-bashing blog posts, you know.

    1. Val--No matter how SOL I am with my UOI, I ALWAYS make time for men-bashing...

  4. Bet that panel discussion was too much fun. Wish I could've been there to watch/listen to y'all.

Don't blame you for cutting down on the blogging. It can take up a lot of time. I just cut back to Wednesdays only. Getting those Friday and Monday posts out was killing me. And I'm so flippin' type-A that I spend forever on my posts. I envy the folks who can blast out a good blog post in 10-15 minutes---they do exist. I know a few. Unfortunately, that isn't me. Also, I needed more time to come out and read my favorite blogs...like this one. :)

    1. Lisa--I too envy/admire writers who are prolific enough to blog every day or several times a week. However, I've learned over the years that if I compare myself to other writers--how many submissions they've sent off, how many publications they've snagged, how many pages they wrote in a day--I'll drive myself crazy.

All I can do is plug away and compete with myself... try to do better than I did last week/last year/last night.

  5. I'm in awe of those who post every day, I'm an 'as and when' blogger so it can be several posts in one week or a couple of weeks between posts. I've missed the back of the book blurb the last couple of weeks but hopefully I'll join in this Friday.

    1. Sarah--We all have different things that pull at us. Your attitude--to post when you can--is a wise one.

(And we'd love to have you join us on Friday. The more players, the more fun...)

  6. Just reading your posts is inspiring to me. Would loved to have been at the Chicken Soup event. I look at life as being right where I am supposed to be at any given time. Thank you for sharing yours.

    1. NoExcuses--Looking at life like that means you're forgiving of yourself... Which is what we all need to do more of.

  7. I think when I worked, I had more time to invest in blogging. Now I find other writing things to do and don't spend as much time as I should on my blog. Take it easy.

    1. Linda--I don't think I have to worry too much about a clamoring horde of followers being disappointed. And we all know what other writing "things" you spend your time on.

      Submitting. Submitting. Submitting.

  8. It'd be nice if all bloggers posted just once a week and then maybe I'd be able to keep up with everyone! Ha. Selfish motive there. I'm only doing once a week because of the Book Blurb, although I sometimes manage to squeeze in another. It's all good, whatever we do.

    1. Lynn--I'd appreciate the once-a-week thing, too. Those people who post every day drive me crazy (because I don't want to miss anything:).

  9. I'm with you. If I post once a week I'm happy. Long ago I came to the conclusion the world will not end in horror if there wasn't a daily scintillating post from me. Letting go of that guilt leaves me with more time to get other things done.
